Taiwan formally announces two revised road lighting standards

A few days ago, the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan formally announced two Taiwanese standards, including CNS9118 [Road Lighting Fixture] and CNS15233 [LED Street Lighting Fixture] revised and revised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

It is understood that the CNS9118 is applicable to road lighting fixtures for discharge type light sources (high-pressure nano lamps, complex metal lamps, etc.), and this revised scope not only incorporates new light sources (inductive fluorescent lamps), but also guides the safety test to international standards. Consistent with the standard IEC 60598-2-3, in addition to driving the development of new light sources, it will also contribute to the safety and quality of road lighting fixtures reaching the international level.

It is reported that CNS15233 is applicable to road lighting fixtures with LED as the light source, and this revision focuses on the distinction between light color (color temperature) and the refinement of test methods. In terms of light color, in addition to the revised color temperature measurement method, the difference in color temperature is simplified to 3 types (high color temperature, medium color temperature, and low color temperature) so as to facilitate selection by the purchasing unit.

At the same time, since the overall testing time of the CNS15233 is as long as 6 months (4000 hours), the luminous efficiency of the LED module is improved rapidly. In particular, the "standard series" is provided in the new version of the standard. New types of lamps and lanterns are equipped with LED modules with higher luminous efficiency. The test time can be significantly reduced to a quarter (1000 hours), and good products will be able to take advantage of the morning market to seize business opportunities, so that both product quality and industrial development can be balanced.
