LGA1366 is not dead: the new six-core Core i7-980 is not sunrise

The next generation of fever platform LGA2011 Sandy Bridge-E will take half a year to debut, so the existing LGA1366 platform still has some vitality. On June 26, Intel will officially launch the new six-core product "Core i7-980."

Core i7-980 can be seen as an upgraded version of the Core i7-970, and can also be seen as a frequency-locked version of the Core i7-980X Extreme Extreme Edition. Its primitive frequency is 3.33GHz, Turbo Boost dynamic acceleration frequency is 3.60GHz, it is 133MHz higher than the former and is the same as the latter, but it does not open the frequency multiplier like the latter.

In addition, Core i7-980 and the previous non-exclusive version, QPI bus frequency is 4.8GT / s, lower than the Core i7-980X 6.4GT / s.

No other specifications can be said: 32nm process manufacturing, six core 12 threads, 12MB L3 cache, 130W thermal design power (voltage range 0.800-1.375V), support for VT-x/SSE4.2/AES, etc. Supports three channels of DDR3-1066 memory.

Core i7-980 product number is BX80613I7980, is expected to be officially priced at 583 US dollars, which is exactly the same as the Core i7-970, but much lower than the Core i7-980X sky price of 999 US dollars. Core i7-970 is also expected to drop to $294 simultaneously.
