Expected: 2011 LED lighting penetration will exceed 10% for the first time

According to the latest statistics from DIGITIMES Research, the high-brightness LED market will grow from 8.25 billion US dollars in 2010 to 12.6 billion US dollars in 2011, and the annual growth rate will be as high as 53%. Among them, the number of LED lighting used by 4.8 billion in 2010 will increase. To 12.4 billion in 2011, mainly due to the fact that LED bulbs replaced the traditional incandescent lamp effect in 2011.

Although LED lighting accounted for the total lighting market share in 2010 is still not high, only 3.2% in terms of output value, but in the case of high awareness of energy conservation and carbon reduction, the world's major countries have set LED lighting policy, and actively promote the development of LED lighting industry. According to DIGITIMES Research analyst and project manager Lin Fenhui, the global demand for LED light bulbs will grow from 596 million in 2011 to 2.5 billion in 2013. In terms of street lights, China, the United States, and Europe have been promoting in major cities. In the demonstration project, it is estimated that the number of LED street lamps will increase from 2.2 million in 2011 to 9.8 million in 2013, which will drive LED lighting penetration rate in the next few years.

Driven by LED lighting policies in major countries, significant improvement in LED luminous efficiency, and estimated LED lighting price will fall by 20-30% per year, Lin Fenhui estimates LED demand for lighting from 2009 to 2013. The annual CAGR will reach 97.4%, which is 62.6% higher than that of the large-size LCD LED backlight CAGR, and the LED lighting market will reach US$ 15.4 billion in 2011. The penetration rate in the overall lighting market will exceed 10% for the first time, reaching 10.6%.
