NXP Introduces GreenChip Resonance Controller for 400W High Power LED Applications

On October 30, NXP Semiconductors announced the SSL4120, an integrated power factor correction (PFC) GreenChipTM half-bridge resonant controller that supports high power LED applications up to 400W.

The single-chip SSL4120 is an efficient solution for high-power LED applications such as office lighting, mall lighting, high and low shed lighting, parking lot lighting, square lighting and street lighting. The SSL4120 fully supports utility applications and supports efficient start-up directly from the rectified universal mains voltage range of 90 to 305 volts. The SSL4120 supports low total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 10%, high power factor (PF) above 0.97, and typical PFC frequency of 380 kHz, meeting and exceeding the traditional requirements for high power LED lighting applications. NXP will present its latest SSL driver chip green chip series at the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Booth No. 5B-C12).

Time to market

The SSL4120 resonant controller is NXP's latest high-power LED driver chip, which is currently in volume production and samples will be available soon. Other high-power LED green chip solutions include the award-winning SSL4101, an integrated PFC flyback controller with an adaptive power range of 25 to 150 W.
