Samsung Announces Production of the World's Largest Semiconductor Factory

[Global Science and Technology Report] Samsung Electronics announced that its semiconductor plant in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, has been put into production. Its main product is a 64-layer stack of NAND flash memory. The factory, which was built by Samsung Electronics at a cost of 15.6 trillion won (equivalent to approximately 13.5 billion U.S. dollars), is currently the world's largest semiconductor factory.

Samsung also announced that it will invest 14.4 trillion won (equivalent to US$ 12.5 billion) to expand the semiconductor production capacity of the Pyeongtaek Plant, and will also invest 6 trillion won (equivalent to US$5.2 billion) to build a semiconductor processing line in Hwaseong to adapt to Demand for ultraviolet radiation (EUV) equipment.
