Among the large number of patented layouts of Jingdian, the earliest core technology was the ITO technology developed by the founder of Crystal Power at ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute). LEDs used thin metals to diffuse current during early development, but this structure has the disadvantage of poor light extraction efficiency. The founder of Jingdian understands the advantages of ITO's transparency and conductivity. ITO is used in LEDs to improve current spreading and improve light extraction efficiency. In addition, because the low contact resistance characteristics of ITO can be used as a good ohmic contact layer, and its optical characteristics are also suitable for light field adjustment. Taking GaN-on-Si as an example, after the nitride is grown on the germanium substrate, the epitaxial structure can be transferred to the transparent or reflective carrier by bonding techniques to avoid light absorption due to the opacity of the germanium.

In other applications, a plurality of different colored LED structures can be combined on a common substrate for mixing. For example, a low temperature metal bonding process can enhance mechanical strength plus the required reflective properties to improve light extraction efficiency and help reduce the manufacturing cost of vertical structure blue LEDs. Jingdian successfully obtained multi-national patents for this technology, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese and US patents.

For applications requiring high power, large size dies are generally preferred because they can withstand high injection currents and have high electrical efficiency. Jingdian has obtained a core patent from a Swiss company, including the design of the extended electrode, which can reduce the manufacturing cost and solve the problem of light limitation or loss in the LED die to increase the photoelectric efficiency.

As the first company to successfully mass produce high voltage (HV) LED dies, Grid has also developed a variety of permutation designs with multiple cells/multiple junctions formed on a common substrate for high voltage drive. Thanks to clever wire design, HV LED dies have excellent electrical properties and flexibility for a wide range of lighting applications.
