According to Marvell, the 88EM8183 LED driver IC provides the industry's broadest range of dimmer compatibility, the industry's lowest number of components required, and supports many world lighting standards for high-quality solutions for OEMs. By using the Marvell 88EM8183 driver IC, Samsung can produce high-performance, low-cost LED bulbs that offer deep dimming capabilities and are fully compatible with more than 150 different wall box dimmers worldwide.
Marvell pointed out that the highly integrated Marvell 88EM8183 LED driver IC is designed to smoothly reduce the dimming depth to one percent of the current, and can only reduce the dimming to 10 to 20 percent. Compared to brand solutions, there are significant performance advantages. The 88EM8183 is also compatible with different types of three-terminal bidirectional AC switch (TRIAC) wall box dimmers from global manufacturers.
In addition, Marvell also emphasized that the architecture of the 88EM8183 LED driver IC is highly integrated, thus significantly reducing bill of materials (BOM). By reducing the number of LED driver IC parts by more than half, the Marvell solution significantly reduces the required board space, allowing OEM/ODM plants to apply LED lighting to a variety of lampholder specifications without sacrificing dimming performance. Marvell announced that its 88EM8183 deep dimming single-stage AC/DC LED driver IC has been selected for Samsung's next-generation LED energy-saving bulb manufacturing. Samsung's new products, backed by Marvell technology, include the A19, a convex reflector (BR) and a parabolic aluminum reflector (PAR) bulb, which will be available for sale starting tomorrow through retail channels.
