Not refundable? Samsung Announces Remote Disconnection of All Note7 Networks

Tencent Digital (Shawn) Samsung Galaxy Note 7 poses a risk to the user's personal or property safety, but even after a global recall, no-fly, and several subsidy, there are still stubborn users still using the phone. After the forced firmware upgrade to limit power, Samsung introduced new restrictions for Note 7: it is forbidden to connect to mobile networks.

Samsung has announced that after November 18, all Note 7 in New Zealand will be cut off from the connection with the mobile operator's network, and will not be able to make calls, send text messages or obtain mobile data.

Although Wi-Fi functionality will not be limited, it is believed that this measure is enough to make users who are not willing to return their phones to pay attention. According to local media reports, most of Note 7 in New Zealand has been replaced, but there are still hundreds of unreturned.

“Merchants have repeatedly tried to contact the owner and asked them to change their mobile phones or make refunds. This restriction should help the return of the remaining mobile phones,” said Geoff Thorn, president of Telecommunications Forum, New Zealand, “Hope to still own the Samsung Galaxy Note. 7 users can return the phone to the service provider as soon as possible."

As for whether Samsung will cooperate with mobile operators in other countries to launch similar restrictions? In response, a Samsung spokesperson said only that the company is "investigating all possibilities to further restrict the use of this device." (Author: James Vincent, the compiler: Sean)
