Going back, this may be the prototype of a computer light. As a real computer light, it appeared in the mid-to-late 1980s. With the development of science and technology, especially the rapid development of digital computer technology, computer lights have evolved into the digital age of today through the initial analog era. To this day, computer lights have grown into a very large family with at least hundreds of brands. Faced with such a large computer light group, as a TV lighting technology worker, it must be carefully studied and explored as a subject, fully understand its development dynamics and technical characteristics, use computer lights correctly, and better produce TV programs. service. Technical characteristics of computer lights

The model and brand of computer lights are very numerous, domestic, imported, scanning, and shaking heads, but it comes down to the following characteristics.

1. Structural features of computer lights

There are roughly two types of popular computer lights in terms of structure, one is a lens scanning type computer lamp, and the other is a shaking head type computer lamp.

The lens scanning computer lamp projects a light beam by swinging a reflective lens on the lamp head at the front of the lamp body. The lens is driven by two motors, pitch and azimuth, to achieve vertical and horizontal oscillations. The biggest advantage is that the lens is very light, it is very convenient and fast to control, and it can produce very fast beam motion changes. The disadvantage is that the beam has a small range of motion due to the influence of the mirror axis. Therefore, it is more suitable for suspension use. The head-type computer lamp is the original form of the computer light when it originated. Its advantage is that the lamp body rotates to drive the beam, and the rotation range is large, which can achieve 360° rotation. This kind of sporting effect can produce a full visual experience on the stage. The disadvantage is that the motor that drives the moving head has a large power, resulting in a heavy lamp body. However, with the advancement of science and technology, this shortcoming has been gradually overcome, making this kind of lamp has developed rapidly in recent years, and has become the mainstream computer lamp on the TV stage today. From the initial limitation of technology, it can only be used as a simple color change effect. It has been developed into a computer lamp with the same rich artistic effect as the lens scanning type computer lamp.

2. Computer light features

As a typical representative of modern lamps, the function of computer lights can be said to be very complete: generally including light color change, three primary color combination changes, light and dark changes, pattern combination changes, pattern rotation changes, prism effect changes, soft light effect changes, lenses Aperture contraction change, lens focus change, lens zoom change, beam stroboscopic change, etc. In recent years, some computer lamp manufacturers have begun to consider connecting computer lights to video equipment, so that computer lights can project infinitely changing patterns, resulting in more rich and brilliant artistic effects.

3. Computer light control features

The computer light is composed of an actuator and a control element. The change of each output light of the computer light, that is, the movement of the light beam, the color of the light, the projected pattern, the brightness of the light intensity, etc., are all controlled by the execution motor. The optics are done. The control of the computer lights is done by the computer. Each computer light is equipped with one or several CPUs. Through the processing of the CPU, the instructions given by the computer light console to reflect the light art creation are sent to each action motor. These control commands are a set of digital signals sent by a computer. Each action change of the motor corresponds to a digital code, and each change of the output beam corresponds to a set of numbers. The control signal commonly used today is the DMX512 signal.

4. The use of computer lights

The light source of the computer lamp is generally provided by a gas discharge bulb, and the output light is high color temperature light (5600-6300k), while the ordinary lamp output light is low color temperature light (2900-3200k). Therefore, the computer light is generally suitable for use as an effect light, and a beautiful television picture capable of generating a strange lighting effect through a television camera (the color temperature is generally adjusted to 2900 to 3200 k). In addition, due to the high cost of the computer lamp, it has created its fluidity characteristics. It can't be fixed in the studio like a normal light fixture, but it needs to be replaced at any time according to the requirements of the program production. It is necessary to continuously transport and install during the flow process, which is very likely to cause damage to the lamps.

Problems to be aware of when using computer lights

1. The problem of setting the address code of the computer light is the digital signal control, which uses the internationally popular DMX512 control protocol. Each lamp must have its own code, and the command issued by the console uses this code to identify each lamp. The encoder of the computer light is usually installed at the rear of the lamp (lens scanning computer light) or the base of the light (shaking head computer light). The commonly used encoders are digital and switch type. The digital encoder is relatively simple to set up, usually through the encoder menu, by turning the page to the address setting, and then using the "+" (up / ∧) "-" (down / ∨) symbol key on the encoder To change the size of the number, after confirming, confirm by pressing the "ENTER" key. For example, a computer light with 20 channels. The starting address code of the first light is 1, it is set to "001"; the starting address code of the second light is 21, it is set to "021"; The lamp start address code is 401, which is set to "401". Now we use the "COMAR" scanner and the "STUDIOCOLOR" and "STUDIOSPOT" scanners. In addition, there are many computer lights that use a switch encoder, and its structure is shown in Figure 4. It consists of 9 small two-position switches (and there are exceptions). When the switch is placed in the "on" position, it indicates that the value code represented by this switch is active. The address code values ​​corresponding to switches 1 to 9 are shown in Table 1. For example, to set the computer light whose starting address code is 1, set the switch "1" to "on"; to set the computer light whose starting address code is 41, the switches "1" and "4" will be set. And "6" is placed on "on"; and so on, you can set the address code of all the scanners.

2. Matching problems between computer lights and computer light consoles Currently, there are countless manufacturers at home and abroad producing consoles for different types of computer lights. All of these computer light consoles have one common feature, which is to fully consider the humanized design concept, which has powerful control functions, simple operation and convenient use. However, each brand has its own characteristics, the output control signals are not the same, and some can not output DMX512 control signals.

Therefore, when choosing a console for our own computer lights, we must consider the matching problem and see if the selected console can output the more common DMX512 control signals in the world. Also look at the console has several control ports, usually the number of computer lights controlled by a DMX512 control port is limited, the more control ports the more computer lights are controlled. The number of computer lights (N) that can be controlled by a DMX512 control port can be calculated by the following formula: N=512÷Nc (where Nc is the number of channels of a computer light)

3. Signal Line Problems of Computer Lights Computer lights are digital devices that are connected in series by signal lines and execute commands from the computer light console to perform various actions (light movement, color change, pattern Transform, etc.). Therefore, the importance of the signal line can be imagined. If there is a hidden danger in a certain signal line, the control of the entire system will be disordered and will not operate normally. In addition, pay attention to the control length of the signal line. Under normal circumstances, the signal line control length should not exceed 150m. Otherwise, the control signal is seriously attenuated and the computer light cannot be well controlled. If the signal line is too long, consider adding a signal amplifier. In retrospect, many of the faults we encountered in actual work were caused by signal lines. Therefore, careful measurement of each signal line before connecting the signal lines, and appropriate addition of signal amplifiers in the control loop, is the experience of the author's long-term work, often can achieve twice the result with half the effort.

4. The problem of power supply for computer lights In the entire TV program production system, the lighting system uses the most electricity. The power supply department generally provides a special power transformer to supply power to the lighting system. The three-phase power output of the power supply is 380V, and the feeding power of the computer lamp is 220V, 50Hz. Pay special attention when powering the computer lights. Do not connect the phase voltage of 380V. Otherwise, the circuit board inside the computer light will be burned out, and even the whole lamp will be scrapped. The power consumption of each computer light should also be noted. Because there are many electrical equipment in the computer light, there are various motors, circuit boards, and light bulb starting equipment. If a computer lamp is calibrated to 1200W, its power consumption is generally about 2000W. In addition, pay attention to the zero line and grounding of the power supply. If the feeding of the computer light is not well connected, the luminaire may be damaged.

5. The problem of the transfer of computer lights As the mobile lighting equipment, the computer light is very mobile, and it is often turned into a field in a few days. Therefore, it is necessary to make a shipping package for computer lights, as shown in Figure 5. Some manufacturers' printer lights are equipped with a special packing box, which should be noted when purchasing. Otherwise, it is necessary to design and produce the manufacturer of the special factory aviation packaging box. Computer lights are generally heavier. Pay special attention when handling. In addition to paying attention to personal safety, do not cause personal injury. Also, understand the structure of the computer lights. Generally, there are handling handles on the lamp body. It is possible to damage the shaft and optical components of the luminaire.

6. Stage installation problems of computer lights When the computer lights are used, most of them are suspended above the stage, so the safety and reliability of the suspension should be paid enough attention, which not only involves the personal safety of the cast members, but also considers The cost of expensive equipment is very difficult to fix once it breaks.
