1. Check the cable before the test and fully discharge the ground; disconnect the equipment connected at both ends of the cable, and do not attach other equipment during the test; wipe the insulation surface of the cable ends at both ends to reduce the surface leakage current. 2. The test site should be equipped with safety measures such as safety fences, especially at the other end of the cable to hang warning signs and send special guards to prevent outsiders from approaching, check the grounding wire and discharge rods are connected.

3. When pressurizing, gradually increase the voltage gradually to prevent the charging current from being too large, and read the leakage current value after staying for 1 minute at 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0 times test voltage respectively; finally press at the test voltage The withstand voltage test is performed for a predetermined period of time, and the leakage current value after the withstand voltage is read before the endurance test is completed.

4. Depending on the cable type, the micro-ampere meter has different wiring methods. Generally, the micro-ampere meter is connected to the high-voltage side, and the high-voltage lead and the micro-ampere meter are shielded. For power cables with copper mesh shielding and insulation to ground, the micro-ampere can also be connected in series to the ground loop of the cable under test. A discharge switch is connected in parallel across the micro-ampere meter to open the switch during measurement. After the measurement, the switch is closed before discharge to avoid damage to the micro-ampere meter caused by the discharge current.

5. The test voltage should be measured directly on the high voltage side. Because half-wave rectification or voltage doubler rectification is adopted, if the voltage is measured on the low-voltage side and converted to the high-voltage side voltage, the voltage waveform and the ratio error and the stray current may affect the high-voltage test voltage amplitude. Large error, so the test voltage should be measured directly on the high voltage side.

6. Each time the withstand voltage test is completed, the voltage should be stepped down and the power supply turned off. Then, the test cable is discharged to the ground several times with a current limiting resistor of about 80 kΩ per kilovolt, and then discharged directly to the ground, and the discharge time should be not less than 5 minutes to ensure sufficient discharge.
