How to choose a dc gear motor?

When we have a project related dc gear motor, we need to figure out how to choose a dc gear motor.


Firstly, we need to calculate the project design, the space it leaves for the dc gear motor, including diameter and total length.


Secondly, we need to calculate the specification of the dc gear motor:

1.Working voltage: if we confirmed it is a dc power supply.

2.Speed: you do not need to know the driving motor speed. However, the output speed is the mostly important. It could be either free load speed or load speed.

3.Torque: normally we have two ways to decribe the torque of the dc gear motor, the rated torque and the stall torque.

The rated torque means the torque it need to drive the object to the estimated position. The stall torque means the motor will be close to stall when the motor reach the torque.


Thirdly, through the above knowledge, we can work out different proposals of a dc gear motor. This is also how we choose a dc gear motor for our customers.
