Talking about the color difference problem of robot color changing program

In this paper, FANUC spraying robot P200E is equipped with Sames PPH607 atomizer as an example to explore how to effectively avoid the quality problem of color difference after color change, and produce quality qualified products.

The FANUCP200E spray robot has a complete paint color change and nebulizer cleaning system that can be programmed for each color change to accommodate a variety of different color and fluid materials.

However, there are some minor problems in the actual use of this system. When spraying a body with a large color difference, such as spraying a red body and then spraying a white body, red paint will appear on the white body, causing chromatic aberration defects. In the event of such quality problems, manual rework is required, and even the entire vehicle must be re-sprayed on the assembly line.

The composition and principle of the color change system

The main working part of the color change system of P200E robot is a series of pneumatic ultra-micro valves, which control the action timing of these ultra-micro valves, and cooperate with the movement of the robot to complete the color changing work required by the robot.

The color change programs used in robot color change include PushOut, CleanOut, and Fill.

PushOut: Used before changing colors in order to provide all the remaining paint in the paint supply line to the nebulizer. Close the color change valve and switch on the purge gas valve. The spray path is continued using the color change valve manifold and the remaining paint in the main line. PushOut is typically performed prior to changing the color or material to allow the coating system to be substantially emptied.

CleanOut: Purified gas and purification solvent are circulated through the color change valve manifold, coating line and atomizer in an alternating manner to clean the inside of the box, preventing the paint of the front color from contaminating the paint of other colors. Regulator override is also enabled to maintain the nebulizer flow regulator fully open.

Fill: When the system is empty and clean, the program is used to fill the color valve manifold supply line (to provide coating for the atomizer) and to provide the atomizer with the coating of the desired color. Open the corresponding color change valve, turn on the trigger valve, and enable the adjuster override function. Typically, when the nebulizer is in the cleaning cartridge, a filling cycle will be performed because the primer function can minimize the amount of paint discharged from the nebulizer. At this point, the atomizer dump valve can be energized or de-energized, providing a parallel path that allows the gas in the paint supply system to be easily vented.

The P200E robot performs color change in the following order: PushOut, CleanOut, and Fill. Check and analyze these action programs to find the cause of the failure.

PushOut: When the robot sprays the last car of a certain color, the color change valve is closed to stop the supply of the paint. The paint in the pipeline using the color change valve to the nozzle continues to spray the car for 2 seconds.
