The Patent Jurisdiction Committee of the Korean Patent Office said on May 22 that Samsung Electronics had requested the declaration of two Korean patents of OSRAM in March last year, and the ruling of "Osram patent invalidation" was made in the case. The ruling of the Patent Judicial Committee is equivalent to the first-instance judgment. If Osram is dissatisfied, it can appeal to the Patent Court and the Grand Court in charge of the second and third trials.
At present, the global LED market ranks first in Japan and Japan, and Samsung Electronics, Osram and LG Innotet rank second to fourth. Various Korean companies are suing Osram in South Korea, the United States, Germany and China. Osram took the lead in launching 17 patent litigations against Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics in South Korea. Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics were not willing to show weakness and launched 23 patent litigations against Osram. On April 26, the Korea Trade Commission filed a case against Osram that LG Innote infringed its patents and demanded that it ban export measures, and finally declared "no suspicion."
