Cypress's new low-power Bluetooth chip is Bluetooth 4.1 certified

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. today announced that its new highly integrated single-chip Bluetooth low-power solution has received Bluetooth certification. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group has awarded Cypress a certificate to demonstrate the link layer components used in the PSoC® 4 BLE programmable system-on-chip and PRoCTM BLE programmable on-chip RF system solutions, The Bluetooth low-power protocol stack and the RF physical layer (RF Phy) are certified according to the 4.1 version of the specification. In addition, the solution's chip scale package (CSP) and quad flat no-lead (QFN) packages are also certified for Bluetooth 4.1.

PSoC Creator enables the entire system design to be implemented in the same tool, speeding time-to-market. Of course, users of Eclipse® and other ARM-based tools can also use PSoC Creator to customize their low-power Bluetooth solutions and then export the design to their favorite IDE.

Application details for the Cypress BLE component are included in the PSoC Creator software, which also includes several sample projects that fully support Bluetooth low energy, as well as sample projects for hundreds of mixed-signal system designs. The $49 CY8CKIT-042-BLE development kit enables users to easily transition to Cypress BLE devices while maintaining the basic design of the PSoC 4 Pioneer Kit.
